Acupuncture
Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most commonly used medical treatments in the world, originating in China more than 2000 years ago. Free of side effects, acupuncture can benefit both mother and baby. During pregnancy, acupuncture is most commonly used to treat hip, leg, and back pain; headaches; and the pregnancy-induced skin rash (PUPPS) that occurs in some women toward the end of their pregnancy. Acupuncture is also sought as a means to induce labor. Postpartum, acupuncture can help with insufficient lactation, postpartum depression, fatigue, and that out-of-sorts feeling that comes from the emotional rush of birth and the plunge into parenthood.
Chiropractic: Postnatal
Chiropractic care is centered on the body’s innate ability to heal itself. Pregnancy is one of a woman’s most physically challenging times in her life. Imbalances that may have gone unnoticed frequently appear with the weight gain of the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. Conditions including sciatica, low back pain, headaches, carpal tunnel, hip pain, and more can be greatly improved with chiropractic care.
Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy is a light-touch fascial release technique that gently balances the body. Fascia is a layer of connective tissue that covers every bone, organ, and muscle in the body. When injured, fascia becomes sticky and restricted. Craniosacral therapy slowly and gently releases restrictions in the fascia and restores normal motion to the body.
Massage: Maya Abdominal
Maya Abdominal Massage is a noninvasive, external, massage technique. It guides internal abdominal organs into their proper position for optimum health and well being. The technique works by relieving congestion and blockages to improve the flow of energy (chi) and fluids of the circulatory, lymphatic, and nervous systems. Maya massage improves organ function by releasing physical and emotional congestion from the abdomen.
Massage: Pranassage
Pranassage® is a one one one yoga session. It is the creative synthesis of bodywork and yoga that produces deep relaxation in the body and mind.
Massage: Postnatal
Pregnancy massage is a wonderful complement to your prenatal and postnatal wellness. The sensory experience brings greater awareness to your body and your baby, enhancing your pregnancy and birth experience. Pregnancy massage reduces stress; promotes relaxation; relieves muscle pain in the hips, back, neck, and legs; helps reduce edema; and improves labor outcomes. Beyond birth, postpartum massage helps restore the abdomen and weight bearing muscles and joints.
Massage: Shiatsu
Shiatsu is especially soothing with a special intention for the soon-to-be mom or new mom. Research shows that stress is a major risk factor in pregnancy. Stress can increase the discomfort of pregnancy and, in some cases, interfere with baby's development. Asian Bodywork Therapies are incredibly effective in relieving stress, as the mind and body learn to relax with ease. Sessions are offered with an attitude of respect and honor, combined with relaxing surroundings and knowledge of prenatal issues.
Naturopathic Medicine and Holistic Nutrition
Naturopathic medicine is a system of healthcare that blends the best of natural healing methods (herbs, homeopathy, nutrition, lifestyle) with modern science. It can be especially useful for supporting healthy pregnancy, birth, lactation, and beyond. Naturopathic care ideally starts before conception, assuring that both egg and sperm are optimally healthy. Common pregnancy ailments such as nausea, fatigue, recurring urinary tract infections, chronic vaginitis, and nutritional deficiency can be greatly improved with naturopathic medicine. Not just for pregnancy, naturopathic doctors are able to offer a holistic approach to all health concerns through all stages of a life, including both children and adults.
