Free of side effects, acupuncture can benefit both mother and baby. During pregnancy, acupuncture is most commonly used to treat hip, leg, and back pain; headaches; and the pregnancy-induced skin rash (PUPPS) that occurs in some women toward the end of their pregnancy. Acupuncture is also sought as a means to induce labor. Postpartum, acupuncture can help with insufficient lactation, postpartum depression, fatigue, and that out-of-sorts feeling that comes from the emotional rush of birth and the plunge into parenthood. Acupuncture can also help encourage fertility. ["41","Chiropractic: Prenatal & Postnatal","
Prenatal and Postnatal Chiropractic Care. Chiropractic care is centered on the body’s innate ability to heal itself. Pregnancy is one of a woman’s most physically challenging times in her life. Imbalances that may have gone unnoticed frequently appear with the weight gain of the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. Conditions including sciatica, low back pain, headaches, carpal tunnel, hip pain, and more can be greatly improved with chiropractic care.
Your initial visit includes a history, examination, explanation of chiropractic, time for questions, and an adjustment, if needed. Adjustments are preformed using a special table and a pregnancy cushion that allow you to be comfortable without putting pressure on the baby. The greatest benefit for most pregnant women is a more comfortable pregnancy with less pain and less dysfunction. Balancing the pelvis creates the optimal amount of space for the baby to pass through during birth. Studies have shown that first time moms under chiropractic care have an average of 25% shorter labors, while moms who have already given birth have 31% shorter labors with chiropractic care.

For more information, visit www.channingmckinley.com.

Schedule an appointment with Channing McKinley.
Time: 15 to 60 minutes
Cost: $45 to $130
","","","3"],
["39","Craniosacral Therapy","
Craniosacral Therapy. Craniosacral Therapy is a light-touch fascial release technique that gently balances the body. Fascia is a layer of connective tissue that covers every bone, organ, and muscle in the body. When injured, fascia becomes sticky and restricted. Craniosacral therapy slowly and gently releases restrictions in the fascia and restores normal motion to the body. A craniosacral session is preformed fully clothed and consists of light contacts over the bones of the cranium and spine and the soft tissues of the abdomen. Sessions are very relaxing and generally last 30 minutes to 1 hour. Craniosacral therapy is beneficial for many conditions, including headaches, round ligament pain, low back and hip pain, neck stiffness, and dizziness.

Blended with chiropractic care, craniosacral therapy helps women release restrictions more quickly and hold their adjustments for longer periods of time. ["294","Reiki","
Reiki is a Japanese healing technique used to relax, replenish, and heal the body. It is a wonderful way to balance the body during pregnancy because it is extremely gentle and can help harmonize the chakras and energy flow of both mom and baby. Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut conducted tests that revealed the use of Reiki during pregnancy reduced anxiety by 94 percent, nausea by 80 percent, pain by 78 percent, and improved quality of sleep by 86 percent. Mothers who have had previous C-sections who receive Reiki in later pregnancies show a clear reduction in the need for cesarean surgeries. Couples who are having trouble getting pregnant sometimes seek Reiki treatments for their reproductive problems.

A typical Reiki session is about an hour long and feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Many will feel heat emanating from the practitioner\'s hands, similar to a heating pad. Some commonly feel cold emanating from the hands over a sprain or where there is swelling.
